HOW TO HAVE YOUR USA-BRED AZTECA HORSE INSPECTED/REVISED
In Mexico, two phenotype inspections are desired. The first inspection would ideally present a six month old foal at it's dam's side. If the foal meets the basic requirements, it would be microchipped, a tatoo (designates letter showing blood percentage of founding breeds) placed on the inner face of the upper lip, and it receives an AMCCRA Certificate of the Azteca Horse. The horse would again be inspected at 3 years of age. At this time, if it meets all the criteria, it is entered into the official AMCCRA Azteca Studbook. Additionally, the owner is given important tips on what crosses may be best for that individual horse as a producer of Aztecas.
The AMCCRA recognizes that many USA Azteca horse breeders and owners are not able to meet the inspection age requirements above. They are willing for a time to accept any age horse for inspection if it meets other registration criteria. Now that the USA has its first certified AMCCRA Inspector with Sebastian Zarate, phenotype inspections can occur.
You may email the Inspector to start the process. You will still need to complete an application for registration and have available copies of all the items outlined on the Registration page except for video/photos. Horse owners will be responsible for the travel expenses of the Inspector. To offset those costs, it is suggested, if possible, to share travel expenses with other Azteca owners in the region by gathering all the horses to be inspected in one central location.
