"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." - Matthew 28:19-20. (KJV)
SOMETHING TO CONSIDER: By the world's standards, even if you are an average salaried North American, you are rich when compared to most of the world's population. The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, his son in the faith, encouraging him in his ministry. He wrote, "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." - 1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NIV)
Dear Friends & Associates,
Since 1986 (thanks be to the Lord!), the desire of my heart has been to let God really be God in my life. As you know, when God is "in charge", it frees us to simply be obedient to His will.
Yvonne & I feel like God has lead us to commit all aspects of our lives to Him. All our resources are under His lordship. After all, He has our best interests at heart and He can be thoroughly trusted.
The Helstrom Foundation was formed as a result of our wanting to be obedient to The Great Commission as found in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations..." Thus, our goal is to enable God's message to be taught. I realize that is a broad, all encompassing mandate, however, the Foundation will focus primarily on giving people the opportunity to give for the benefit of world missions.
God has already opened up many doors of opportunity for us as outlined under "Current Mission Projects" below. As God continues to open doors for us all, may our hearts and minds be willing to move-our ears ready to hear the directions and our eyes ready to see clearly the vision.
I would personally like to invite you to let God really be God in your life. If God is leading you to enable His message to be taught around the world, please prayerfully consider giving through The Helstrom Foundation. We'd love for you to share in the blessings!
In His Service,
Bob Helstrom
President
All of us want to be the best possible stewards of all the resources and blessings that God has given to us and will bless us with during our lifetime. We want to be wise money managers. The first step is tithing to our local church from the increase the Lord gives. Secondly, we need to be sure the present and future needs of our family are met. If the Lord blesses beyond our needs, then what is my responsibility? God's Word encourages us to invest ourselves and our resources in His kingdom.
Many of us don't have an opportunity to go and teach all nations, however, all of us can give something to help fulfull the Great Commission.
The Helstrom Foundation was started by a Christian businessman and Nazarene layman, Bob Helstrom. God gave Bob & Yvonne, his wife, a vision of how their business could become a conduit for channeling resources to the foreign mission field. Bob & Yvonne became involved in working with the director of the International Church of the Nazarene Headquarter's "Work & Witness" program and organized several Work & Witness teams to go to Kenya and Russia. These teams were made up of laymen who wanted to give of themselves and their income to spreading Christ's love.
n 1972, Bob & Yvonne started a burglar & fire alarm system company in the Pacific Northwest called, "Custom Security Systems." In 1986, Bob & Yvonne dedicated the company and it's assets to the Lord to make money available for investment in God's kingdom, especially the world mission endeavor. Since that time the company has experienced tremendous growth. In 1989, The Helstrom Foundation was set up and the Helstrom's have been helping with world mission projects through the foundation and are now able to dedicate 100% of the company's income to this work.
This is how The Helstrom Foundation came into being. All of the salaries of foundation personnel as well as the cost for operations and promotional materials are paid for by donations from Custom Security Systems. This enables other businessmen and laymen to give monetary gifts through the foundation, assuring them that 100% of their gift will go directly to world mission ministry and not to foundation expenses. It has been and is an exciting journey for Bob & Yvonne.
